India and festivity is synonymous, one cannot write about India without writing about its festivals. This secular country which also happens to be world’s biggest democracy has numerous festivals. Holi, Eid, Lohri, Rakshabandhan, Diwali etc. Apart from these festivals there are lot many regional and community festivals. Ours is a very jamboree freak nation this is why despite of so many festivals we like celebrating our weddings and birthdays like festivals.
I too, like a true Indian love celebrating almost every second day of my life like a festival. However, there are some festivals that are celebrated in larger than life spirit in our country. Now the reason why people like celebrating them at such grand levels, of course varies from person to person. One of my younger cousins likes it because it’s the best time he gets loads of sweets to eat and my elder sister likes the gifts she gets and my mother likes it because she gets to shop without any restriction.
