Though the general idea about festive shopping is of buying traditional things, It becomes interesting to see big international brands giving heavy discounts on women shirts, trousers, and other western wears. This practice has always made me wonder why would any women buy professional shirts and bottoms at festival time- but now I see the relation, it is again a marketing strategy that works two ways around. The prices are low during such times for women to buy clothing and sellers get numerous customers to sell their clothes. A sales man says that often number of women tunics and tops exceed number of women kurti sold in the entire pre-festive discount season. The women clothing sale too appears to me like some festival, end of a seasonal sale brings in planning for another. Nothing can express the true Indian festive spirit better than this miniature.
